Set up your agent
During a Blixel call, anyone can speak or type a request to a coding agent:
yours, or someone else's. The request goes to a Claude Code or Codex session
that is open on the same Mac as Blixel.
Your agent can also work with Blixel when you ask it: read and post to the
call's chat, summarize transcripts, make rooms. See
What your agent can do.
What you need
- Blixel 0.15.1 or later. See Install Blixel.
The plugin finds theblixelcommand inside it, so there is nothing else to
install. - Claude Code (the CLI, or the Code tab in the Claude desktop app), or Codex
(the CLI, or Codex in the ChatGPT app). - The Blixel plugin, installed as below.
Claude Code
Inside Claude Code, run:
/plugin marketplace add blixel-app/skills
/plugin install blixel@blixel-app
Or from a terminal:
claude plugin marketplace add blixel-app/skills
claude plugin install blixel@blixel-app
Then start a new session.
To update the plugin, update Blixel first: the plugin needs the version above,
and with an older Blixel, requests never reach the session. Then run:
claude plugin marketplace update blixel-app
claude plugin update blixel@blixel-app
and start a new session.
Codex
From a terminal:
codex plugin marketplace add blixel-app/skills
codex plugin add blixel@blixel-app
Or ask Codex:
Install the blixel plugin from the GitHub marketplace blixel-app/skills.
Then start a new session.
Without the plugin
Any agent that reads SKILL.md skills, Claude Code and Codex included, can
use Blixel's skills without the plugin:
npx skills add blixel-app/skills
Without the plugin, a session doesn't reconnect by itself. After /clear or a
compaction, ask it to connect to Blixel again; until then it ignores the
requests it receives.
